Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Elevated tee, what a view. If you turn around and use a spotting scope, you can see the top of one tower of the Golden Gate bridge Photo submitted by Titaniumhen on 12/21/2020

Slow round
Slowest round I’ve played in years - 5 and 1/2 hours. We were waiting on every hole. The group in front of us had two open holes in front of them. There was no ranger to keep the play moving.
Beautiful
First time playing here. They just irradiated but Course is absolutely beautiful with in the vineyards, layout is nice and technical at times, long winding per the slopes of the hills: wind is a factor on certain holes. Nicely designed course. Will definitely be back again.
Great round of golf
Had a great round and the course was amazing. Greens and fairways were excellent and the weather superb. Great course and views for the price.
Supposedly My Tee Time was Canceled
Upon arriving at 0600 am for a 0645 tee time for four players we were informed that there was a tournament with a shotgun start at 1000 and the driving range wouldn’t be open until 0830. I informed the guy assigning carts that we weren’t part of the tournament and had a 0645 tee time and showed him my GolfNow confirmation. He said wait for the pro shop to open and talk to him. After waiting 40 minutes which the pro shop wasn’t open yet, now 0640, the cart guy mentioned I should have received a cancellation email which I hadn’t. Nonetheless, the four of us were ready to golf so we were force to go elsewhere and were lucky to find a tee time for four at 0800. Frustrated having to wake up at 0500, drive over a half hour, arrived with ample time to get warmed up and can’t play. And of course had to pay more than we were planning on for the last minute tee time.
Beautiful Spring Round
Drove from the Bay Area to Napa to play Chardonnay. The course was dry (no standing weater) and only one fairway was caart path only. The fairways were perfect and the green were running around 10. The course was not crowded, and we had a greeat day.
Employee are very nice and be sure to tip the cart employee- he worked hard to make sure we were all set to go, and cleaned the clubs after the round..
Need a marshal!
This course is close to being a really fun course to play. The views are amazing and the holes are challenging. But 5.5 hr rounds just kill the vibe. And no beverage cart is just like adding insult to injury. Please please please just throw an employee in a cart a few times a day and get them to move slow foursomes faster. I almost called the pro shop mid-round to complain. Not sure it would have done any good considering the lackluster attitude of the guy who checked us in.
Such a shame….
Wine Country
Love the peaceful surrounding. Ground squirrels and eagles roam freely adding color to the vines!
One if my favorites
I was lucky enough to hold an 8 man family golf outing at Chardonnay on 2-4-2023....we had a blast. We got rain, wind, more rain and after 18 holes we were all smiling and wanting more.....not the best day to play but all of us would do it again.....
If you are visiting the Napa Valley. You HAVE to play Chardonnay....
Sand traps
Sand traps need some work, but after the storms I guess they are what they are. All in all course was in good shape. Would definitely recommend.
Top North Bay Course
Chardonnay Golf Club is in the heart of wine country and it certainly adds to the overall experience. On a sunny day, Chardonnay is tough to beat given its handful of stunning views. The greens can be challenging, considering how narrow some of them are, but the overall pace of the greens was perfect, not too slow, not too fast. The fairways were well maintained and I only noticed a couple dry patches, which is normal given the California drought. My only complaint would be that the tee boxes were a little chewed up, but there were still decent spots to place your tee. Chardonnay is a great value on weekdays and the pace is tolerable, I’d recommend playing here over some of the surrounding courses.
It held together pretty well given all the water over the past month
No surprise that Chardonnay (or any other course in the Bay Area right now) was a wet and sloppy mess. That said, the tea boxes and greens were in terrific condition, as were most of the fairways.. once you got into the rough all bets are off and we had to pick clean and place a number of times throughout the day. But there were no crowds to speak of, and was really glad that they were open despite the terrible conditions lately. I’ll be back!
Local public enjoys this course
Exciting to see new energy coming in to the course. Hard to understand trimming cart paths when the tee boxes need immediate attention! Greens are in terrific shape as is the entire course
Good course
Tee boxes were in bad shape and the bunkers need a lot of work and sand.
Super slow pace of play
We expected that we would be able to finish 18holes within 4-4.5hours. But the course seemed to be over booked or poorly paced, which caused the pace of play extremely slow. We had to wait at least 10 minutes at almost every tee box to tee up. We ended up finishing just 14 holes (which took us 5hours!!!), and had to skip the last 4 holes. It wasn’t a fun experience.
