Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Elevated tee, what a view. If you turn around and use a spotting scope, you can see the top of one tower of the Golden Gate bridge Photo submitted by Titaniumhen on 12/21/2020

great course, excellent service
I really like playing Chardonnay golf course a lot it’s an excellent track in the service was great
On this particular Saturday I got a great $40 rate on Golfnow, but that rate was offered because I was behind a slow tournament in the greens and just been punched and we’re very Sandy in the round took 5 1/2 hours
Other than that I had a good time
Slow
Ridiculously slow. When we got to the 5th tee box, after an hour and half, we were the third group waiting on the box and one group on the green. We tried calling the pro shop numerous times with nobody picking up. One guy drove back to pro shop to get a Marshall and we were told non were there that day. Apparently they had a reverse shotgun go out at 8, jammed regular groups out once they cleared the first hole and another shotgun started at 1230. On 15 it finally opened up because the first tournament finished and finally someone from the pro shop, guy claimed to be the head pro, came out and yelled at the group in front of us to hurry up. They had been waiting all day and keeping ip with the group in front of them. Almost a 6 hour round. I live 15 minutes from here and play it often but the group in front of us was visiting from Japan and probably won’t be recommending it to others visiting.
Good course
Good course, but not what is was 20 years ago though. Checked in for my round, staff handed me a key and that was it. No information as to where to go, get cart or anything. Lacked any form of customer service. Course was pretty challenging. With the wind conditions, made it even harder.
Greens In Great Shape
I’ve played Chardonnay several times in the past and today’s greens were in the best condition by far. Cut perfectly and rolling true. Golf course staff were all friendly and accommodating. Nicest course in the immediate area.
Nice setting in the middle of the Chardonnay wineyards
Nice setting with a number of challenging holes that are fun to play. However taking more than 4 and a half hours in a fourball to play the course is unacceptable where golf athorities make efforts to accelerate the game.
Very Disappointed
Have played this course on our last visit to the Napa Valley prior to Covid. This is our first post Covid vacation and thought we would try Chardanay again as we enjoyed it last time.
Our experience started out with a very unfriendly person checking us in at the pro shop. He simply handed me the cart keys and said "you can go". I couldn't remember where the first tee box was so had to go back in and ask as there was no other staff around.
The first couple of holes were good, but by number 5 things bogged down. At least a 2 group wait at each tee on every hole. It was so bad, the group in front of us left after 9 holes, We were so fed up that we left after 15 holes. The frustrating things is that the score card clearly stated that the course would terminate your round after three warnings if your group was slow. Where was the Players Assistant/Marshall to enforce this statement??
The on-course bathrooms were very dirty, garbage bins overflowing, no soap, towels or TP!.
I do understand that the region is in a drought and despite that, the fairways and greens were in pretty good condition, I was able to find some grass on the fairways if my ball landed on a bare spot. However the sand traps had lots of small rocks and sand was very hard.
Not worth the green fees even if we paid a Hot Deal price.
A planned nice day in the Napa Valley turned out to be a disappointing afternoon.
We won't be back on our next visit to Napa.
Course almost perfect!
With very few spots to improve, the course was in excellent shape. Definitely will keep playing this course. One of my favorite course!
It was a great day at Chardonnay!
Please, please, pease.....you have got to play Chardonnay. If you are visiting or if you are a local....YOU HAVE GOT TO PLAY CHARDONNAY
Tee Time
I play between 12 & 12:30 P.M. when I do play Chardonnay. When I ask if I should just show up at my tee time I'm told they will call me up. When my tee time comes up, the pro shop does not call me or anyone else up. This has happened the last three times I have played there. When I ask why, the kids behind the counter tell me that they forgot. Maybe the kids are the problem.
Super slow pace of play
Super super slow pace of play. Had to quit after 15 holes. Almost 5 hours for 15 holes. Lots of others also quit or jump ahead.
