Improved Conditions
In short the conditions at Laguna Seca have dramatically improved over the last several months. Fairways remain nice and lush throughout. Greens are still on the slower side for speed but roll smooth. Laguna Seca is one of my all time favorite layouts. I’m so happy that conditions have improved and remain steady.
No Marshall
Pretty nice course overall. Their greens were probably the worst out of everything. Just a little crabby grass that’ll make your ball bobble and get knocked off line. Their management is very poor though, they don’t have a Marshall and don’t have a replay rate. I played 36 and payed full price with a cart both times. Most courses give you a break but they didn’t even offer me a walking rate. The pace of play was terrible and the etiquette of the people was equally as bad. It took me 2 hours and 45 minutes to finish 9 holes that plays less than 3,000 yards. This was on a Thursday too. This course has a lot of potential and I would play it again on a day that’s less busy. And next time I’ll be sure not to say I’m going to play more golf, I’ll just hop back on since their replay rate is nonexistent.
Great Layout
The course layout is really nice. A lot of very diverse teeshots with great views. The bunkers and greens should be better cared for. The bunkers have not enough sand in them and are really hard with a lot of dirt and stones in them. The greens are spotty and quite bumpy.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our round in perfect weather. The value for money is great.
Hidden gem amongst top notch courses
Don’t get me wrong, if you around the Monterrey peninsula there are plenty of other better courses. But if you wanna save and enjoy a tough enough course with scenic views everywhere, look no further. During the round I figured off season, shorter yardage and cheap green fees for a weekend twilight would be run of the mill. Boy was I wrong, felt like a country club. A little imperfect as far a manicured things go and the greens had been punched probably 2 weeks before we played but aside from that everting else was great. Good range separated from the course and clubhouse was top notch. Only complaint would be there was three holes that were almost the same and not much of a walking course because of all the hills but if you like a cart and want a scenic course that won’t kill your wallet this is a great course to visit.
Renovate
The Mediocre Condition of Laguna Seca golf course belies the beauty of the golf course property. My recommendation is for Laguna Seca to transition to a naturalist golf course with a targeted single line irrigation system. This will save water, and allow the maintenance crew to increase manicures to the playable portions of the property. These improvements will also increase the desirability and the value of a round of golf played at Laguna Seca.
Laguna Seca Golf - Enjoyable
Laguna Seca is a fun middle difficulty course. Conditions were typical for early season, with some seasonal maintenance on-going, but all holes fully open and playable. Greens and fairways were in good condition. Had no trouble getting a tee time and adjusted last minute to add a fourth without a problem. Pro shop personnel were friendly and helpful. Recommend.
Good Course
Call it the poor mans preserve or carmel valley ranch. Nice course with elevation gains. Pace of play is super slow specially since theres no Marshall out there. Carts are nice and fast, cart path needs work, 30% of the time youre going 4x4. Good deal if you can get a hot deal. Fyi its $20 to bring a spectator.
Nice overall
Overall a really good course, but their bunkers had so many rocks in there
This coarse was awesome
I like how I got a birdie on the 13th 50 yards out and there was a bob cat that came out it was so awesome and such a great experience out there with an awesome 1st time being there
Laguna Seca renovation
The beauty of Laguna Seca belies the condition of the course. Laguna Seca should transition to a desert style golf course with a targeted Single line irrigation system. They should also eliminate the fairways on the par 3's. This will shrink the water and manicure footprint of the golf course and allow the maintenance staff to focus manicuring the playable portion of the golf course. With these cost savings improvements, Laguna Seca will be able to compete with the other high quality golf courses in the community.
