Pacific Grove Golf Links
About
Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.
The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.
Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.
A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Scenic back 9
the course is in very poor condition. Back 9 moves along the ocean. Extremely short and limited variability from blue to white tees. Play it once to say you did.
Poa
For the few remaining courses that have Poa greens in the area I have to say I was highly disappointed in the playing condition of the greens.Though they were lush and bumpy do not expect to score. And if your playing partners are generally going to pick up their ball instead of putting out-I’m sure that would relatively speed up the pace of play
Poor-Man’s Pebble Beach
It’s pretty hard to complain about playing along the coast line of Monterey Bay. Overall the course was in good shape but several of the tee boxes were barren or patchy. I specifically remember holes 17 & 18 tee boxes being in bad shape; not exactly how you want to end your round, especially with hole 17 being a par 3. The weekday round cost is $60 + cart fees. At $60 walking, even with a beautiful walk along the coast, the course should be in better condition. We tee’d off at 1:00pm. The greens were already bumpy. The greens play sluggish, which I don’t have a problem with. But bumpy is a problem because the ball bounces throughout the roll.
Always Enjoyable
Fairways were in nice shape. Better than expected actually. Mainly lush throughout. Just a few thin/brown spots here and there.
I played late afternoon so the greens were showing spike marks and foot prints. Other than that they were healthy
Bunkers were in good shape.
Enjoyable views of the ocean throughout
Sanded greens
They did not inform me some greens where sanded. I’m talking heavy sand like the beach how can you putt on this. They should have disclosed that to everyone our cart was filthy also the cart kid said water usage. Management needs to inspect the place grab a cart and tour your property.
Wonderful day
Course was beautiful. And we played with 2 older men we met at the first hole. They were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed their company for the first 9 holes.
Little treasure
This place is amazing but the green quality is terrible this place totally deserves better shape
Poor Man's MPCC
The Back 9 is worth the price of admission alone. Font nine is nothing special. There are a few distant views of Monterrey Bay, but the Back 9 is the reason this course is special. Winding between the wind swept dunes, you can see the ocean on every shot. Course conditions left a little to be desired (a couple spotty patches in fairways and tee boxes), but for $45, you can't complain. Greens are relatively slow, but that goes with the links style of the back 9. Total yardage is very short, it's an easy walk. Walking the back also allows you to go through some different paths through the dunes. I recommend walking if possible to get the best ecperience.
Good value for money course
Awesome back 9, Great Fun...and Views
The back 9 is worth the price of admission. Greens slow but in good shape. Nice layout, Fun course although not long
The course was in good condition
I enjoyed my day. Played with a pilot from Nebraska. He was amazed at the sights on the course. Thank you for placing us together.
