Ridgemark Golf & Country Club
About
Tucked away between the mountains and foothills of the Gabilan and Diablo Ranges, Ridgemark Golf & Country Club enjoys a peaceful, secluded setting. San Benito County has been especially hard hit by drought and as a way to make the best of a tough situation, the decision was made to combine the club's two championship courses into one, more challenging layout. Golfers who loved the former courses need not worry. The best holes have been incorporated in the new layout along with the addition of some new and interesting holes, like the tough risk-reward seventh hole. The golf course has plenty of challenges in store including doglegs, strategically placed bunkers, tree-lined fairways, and water hazards. At just shy of 7,000 yards from the back tees, there are some long holes that are especially tough but you'll get some great mountain views from the elevated tees.

fast and true greens
The greens played fast and true despite having the spongy type grass.
Ridgemark in Hollister
Scenic, with several ponds filled with geese. Nice picturesque homes, view of mountain range. My only gripe was all the $2 charges from Golfnow, that I cannot figure out.
Average course, no food or drink on course so bring your own
Going downhill regarding basic food service on the course
For intermediate to enjoy.
Have been coming here many times. Great staffs. Friendly service. Reasonable price. Golf cart with soft cushions is awesome. I haven’t seen it anywhere else. Recommend to play there.
Too Wet
The course is over watered. The fairways and greens were holding water. I created rooster tails on my putts. The course played as if it has been raining for a week. No roll on drive ball plugged when it hit the fairway and totally stopped in the rough.
Ridgemark
Decent course, used to be a thriving place but has gone downhill with no drink or food cart service!
Great value
Course is bumpy and dry. Had a lot of fun. Definitely helped to have a local in our foursome otherwise we would have gotten lost out there!
Good greens but major gopher infestation
Gopher mounds everywhere. The course is laid out ok. The greens and low cost of a round make it worthwhile
You need GPS to navigate the course
The course is in good shape except for the bunkers. Hole layout is funky with a mix of holes from the previous 36 hole design.
Pros: fun course, good condition
Cons: No Marshall’s, no oversight of less than courtious golfers, watch out for the dreaded groups of 6 or more players.
Gone down hill
Used to be 2 decent 18-hole courses. But has been changed to one course with a mix of calls from each course. Conditions were not good and very difficult to follow course in general. Shame it’s gone downhill so much
This course is fun to play.
The course is in pretty good shape. It appears that they are working on the bunkers. They really need it.
The sand is real hard.
I Remember
Having lived here for years and playing this course just a much, I am frustrated at the deterioration of this once great track(s).
Used to be two courses but due to greed and politics, it now has become one course of different holes from both courses with the sum being a not so good at all.
Greens are inconsistent from hole to hole which is very frustrating. Some fairways are so thin that your hitting off of dirt on a lot of approach shots.
Maybe things will get better in the future as I can remember when this place was a great place to play golf.
Great coarse, staff unfriendly
I’ve played here before and enjoy the coarse, the chance to hit houses and birds in the same day is always fun, but the old man checking everyone in said our crew was running late when we were there early rushes us to the tee box again early only to be followed by a five some that all had their own carts? Aside from that guy being rude it was a good day. Hole placements were tough and it was all in pretty good shape, the layout is weird since they consolidated the courses.
A Pleasant Surprise
First time playing Ridgemark. From the reviews I expected a somewhat dilapidated track with dry mangy greens. Instead, I enjoyed a well-kept and challenging course with nice greens. Not great or lush by any means, but quite nice. Our 3-some finished 18 holes in 4:15 with very little waiting.
You can tell that the design calls for much more water in play than is present. There are a handful of dry ponds and creeks. But that's just the nature of this area in California with the recent water restrictions. The distances between some greens and the next tees are longer than normal, but the strolls are generally flat and through a nice neighborhood. It's not a factor.
I thought the length and some of the elevation gains were challenging and the wind became a factor after noon. Again, that's just what you have to expect with the temperature differences between this valley and the nearby coast.
Overall, I had a good time and I will add Ridgemark to my rotation.
No marshal in sight
A good deal for the price. The only problem was the 2 some ahead of me joined their friends in a 4 some ahead of them and played as a very slow 6 some. The group behind me didn't like the pace either. I had to go back and play some holes on the other side so didn't get a full 18. No marshal in sight all day.
