Nice course forintermediate players veryfriendly starter
Great Day at Rancho Canada West
Visiting the Monterey Peninsula over the weekend I looked for a new golf course to play and tried Rancho Canada West. It was a beautiful day with 75 degree weather, and the course was in excellent condition. There were some narrow fairways, and I battled more than my share of trees, but the course was more fair than frustrating, and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. Next time in Monterey, I will definitely play here again.
pretty day of golf
the best day I have ever played there. no wind, clear skies, even though its fall and it was hard to find my ball the first couple of holes due to all the fallen leaves,

Enjoyed the course...some holes easy and some not so easy. Many beautiful trees. I will definitely play the West course again and looking forward to playing the East course. Hard to beat the course for the price.
Nice condition and cheap with Golf Now!!
Nice condition and cheap with Golf Now!!
But we don't play 18 hole it was so dark, Because we start 2:18 PM tee up. It's so late in Nov.
Ranch Canada West Course
This is a very small but beautiful course just out side Carmel.
The pro shop was very friendly and helpful and paired me up with a local player. The fairways were tight, but could use some maintenance; however the greens were in fantastic shape and rolled true.
excellent shape
Was planning to golf at Poppy Hills, but couldn't turn down red hot tee time. What a desl. Course in excellent shap! 3 hour round for Thursdsy 11:30 starting time.
West course
Excellent course to play, I always recommend it to my friends and people visiting the area.
great golf for the money
Love both these courses..there beautiful challening and worth the money...always great weather and condition. ..we drive in from the central coast to play.
was good
This was uneventful, which means everything went according to plan, which is good.
I appreciated the fact that all went as scheduled.
Thanks; it was a good experience
needs a little TLC
course layout not bad. With TLC this would be a nice little track. Greens are soft and hold footprints and most Tee boxes are very un-level.Some Bunkers have dirt some sand some nothing at all.
Good Golf Course, some tight fairways
This course is in surprisingly good condition considering the drought in California. Apparently they have there own wells and some recycled water. The course was very green, greens in good condition, a little on the slow side for my likes, but acceptable. As a twosome we played on a Friday mid morning and finished is less than three and a half hours. There are a couple of holes that are hard to see which direction to hit your drives, but we did figure it out by looking at the scorecard. First time at the course, won't be the last.
Great walk and exceptional layout
Have played the West Course at this location and the first time on the East. Found the overall conditions to be above average and enjoyed walking. Was the third group out but was able to play through and ended up finishing in 3.5 hours. Only problem was upon completion and found the restaurant between finishing the breakfast service and before they were ready for lunch. Contemplated waiting to eat and consider a second round but the unusual high temperatures too much. Will return again in the near future.
Great value in the Carmel/Monterey area
I played the East course. The round took just over 3 hours on a Friday morning. The greens were slower than I remembered. My only real complaint about the course condition was the sand traps. All of the traps were wet with hard/compacted sand when I played. Interesting layout. I will definitely play one of the courses at Rancho Canada on my next trip to Carmel.
Better Than Average Muni Type Couse
Rancho Canada West is a nice parkland, muni type course, a better track than its sister East course. Lots of mature trees, green fairways and well manicured greens although they were somewhat slow compared to the faster greens on other higher end courses in the Monterey area. The challenges are par 3's that are somewhat long from the blue tees and some par 4's that have severe doglegs on this par 71 very walkable course.
Always pleasant
Soft spongy greens that really help your putting game. Real serious golfers tend to dislike the greens here, but average golfers like them. If you hot straight, you'll score well. Lots of trees and sand and you'll need to carry the riverbed a number of times. But if you are consistently straight you're rewarded. Fun challenge, but not overbearing.
Great play Day
It was a morning teatime just after a light sprinkle of rain and the course looked beautiful and smelt wonderful. The greens were soft at first but as the sun came out they became a little faster. I played the best game ever that day. I plan to play this course many more times.
I will I am playing golf six months and love it.
Long day on East course
My wife and I were paired with some locals and they were great. Gave us tips on where to drive as it's easy to hit to wrong side of fairway and be blocked by some huge trees. Big group( 6 foursomes) in front of us played very slowly and it was a long day, however, the course was a challenge and we felt it was more difficult than the slope indicated.Remember to ask for range balls and don't forget to return your cart key to the pro shop to get the $3.00 deposit back.( seems a little hokey)We didn't stay for drinks as the bar could use a major remodel.
Good value but 5+ hour round
Haven't played here in years
Good value but got stuck behind a some slow groups. Round took 5:15 to play. That made the overall experience average
Tougher than you think
A very good test of golf. The afternoon winds can make the first two holes a real challenge. I suspect that the locals play this course in the morning and the East Course in the afternoon. The back nine is very tight, but not unfairly so. All in all, a good value and an enjoyable place to play or practice. Great hot dogs at the turn!
