Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Great location - so so conditions

To be honest the course itself is at best a glorified muni. It’s all about the location. We enjoyed it but the price was a little steep. I would recommend to play once for the experience but I would not come back unless the price dropped or the conditions improved.

Fairway grass was longer than I have experienced before, and over 20 mph winds slightly dampened our usual wonderful experience at The Lighthouse Course. Still our must play course when we visit the Monterey area!!!

Fun time with Son in Law

Although it was overcast and a bit cold, we had a great time. There was a tournament in front of. us, but the got the round in a reasonable time.

Nothing poor about Poor Man’s Pebble

Pace of play was smooth for twilight tee time. Course conditions were great. This course really shines on their back 9 with ocean views on most of the holes. This course is played on the same ocean coast line as Pebble and is 1/10 the price - tremendous value and a great experience.

Great Muni on the Bay

Great price to be playing right on the coast, with views of a lighthouse and the waves crashing in.
