Gilroy Golf Course
About
It might not have a lot of competition, but Gilroy Golf Course dubs itself as the "Best 11-Hole Golf Course in America." Built by local farmers and businessmen in 1923, this unique 11-hole routing east of Santa Cruz features small greens and wide, tree-lined fairways set along the Uvas Valley that has changed very little since its founding. Though not a full 18, the golf course is still plenty challenging, including the 245-yard par-3 8th hole, a scenic tee shot considered to be the course's signature. Gilroy Golf Course has suitable BBQ and outing facilities for larger groups.

I was on fire :)
I shot very many unbelievable shots one after another .My driver and 3 wood were of the charts .I almost landed on the green twice in 2 on hole 4 thus I birdied it two times Woohoo. It was a great day I shot a 79!
Good Course
This was only my second time playing this course and for it being a Muni Course I found the conditions are great. The Greens are in great shape and I will definitely keep coming back. The staff is friendly and accommodating
I recommend this course
Great value course!
I've seen a couple of reviews that mention the staff being rude, which I haven't seen in the 4 months that I've been playing there.
As a matter of fact, I would say that the staff is one of the brighter spots of the course, along with well-manicured greens. The only exception to the nice greens would be #4.
Pace of play can be an issue at times, so this isn't the course to play if you have obligations after the round.
Forced carries over deep greenside bunkers on the first couple of holes can wreck your scorecard early....you can bail out to the right for an easy up-and-down, in case you don't draw the ball back.
I like it
It’s a bit rough out there, but very playable. Some spotty greens, but it’s that time of year. I enjoy the heck out of the course
Monday afternoon golf session
Great value for the money, friendly staff and great food.
Staff worker was so rude :(
He basically got upset with me for coming an hour early. I wanted to putt and hit range balls. Told me "I WASN'T WELCOME" because I used GolfNow.com! He made me very upset and ruined my day because I was calm and happy until this RUDE staff member basically told me to leave in so many words because I was a burden to other golfers and to Gilroy Golfs finances because I used Golf Now .com. Then to boot they had just arreiated the greens and the conditions were horrible there. I called GolfNow.com and reported this RUDE staff member and told them I wanted to go home and cancel my tee time. The very kind gentleman that I spoke to at GolfNow.com said he was very sorry and for me not to go home he would talk to the Pro and he gave me my rounds on GolfNow.com FREE. He made my day a little better but had a bad game because of that RUDE staff member you know the new guy there "A" I WON"T BE GOING BACK THERE UNTIL I GET A CALL FROM THE PRO knowing he handled the RUDE staff member he hired!!! and hopefully FIRED!!!
Average day
Nothing to right home about. Had a couple really long drives for me on * almost drove the green on 6 drove in front of the Big Tree WOW. On 18 drove short of the green pitched on about 23 feet away from the hole and had a FANTASTIC straight PUTT RIGHT IN THE HOLE for "PAR"
Great round 77 :)
I had a great round and even surprised myself with some very good and also very long shots and Drives. My chipping has got so much better and I either 1 put or a short tap in 2nd put.Hole 7 the pin was way back to the right . I usually play my 3rd shot to the right of the green but it stopped just short of the green . So I putted it way right ridiculously in fact and the ball once it went to the back of the green and slightly higher than the hole it started rolling down and kept rolling and slowly kept rolling and creeped just by the hole were I tapped it in for a par. It was unbelievable how much the shot was putted to the left and how it came back so much. I almost thought it would continue rolling off the green . But luck and skill was on my side .
Best Game ever for me "74"
My game would have been better but there was a very disturbed man who I asked to pass because he was walking and me in a cart. He BLEW UP ON ME and set me way off from my calm collected good game. Thus I boggied 16,17 & 18. I was always taught to be courteouse and respectful in life but always on the golf course as well. Oh well there will be other days to always improve on my score. :)
Always a great course for the money. Don and his crew do a great job!
Interesting layout
11 hole course.. layout in the hillside. 8th. hole 260 yd. par 3. all down hill. kinda cool.
Great value
Course only has 11 holes but worth the play with beautiful views. Greens were decent. Located in the foothills. Would play again. Food ordering takea a little long but u wont feel hungry with the abundant serving.
good
good day 38 on first 9 second 9 I hooked up with a beginer golfer to avoid back up. We had fun but my game was not as focused and had a little higher score. all in all it was a good day .
As the oldest golf course in Santa Clara County it provide a challenging golf outing.
With friendly staff this course has a quite golf outing and challenging round of golf. The 8th hole is elevated for a scenic view of City of Gilroy. Always a fun course to play.
Great Little Course
Fun course to play at when a quick 9 is all the time you have. But you can also play the full 18. However there are only 11 holes so you will repeat most of them. Wish the tee boxes where better identified, I was confused as each hole seemed different. Some had a white marker but then the next one had a different design. Overall I had fun...mainly used it to practice on the course rather than post a score.
typical
The last ime I played at Gilroy Golf Course they had the greens the best they ever been since I started golfing there a week ago .But today was pretty much the same old greens ,grass needed cutting in certain areas but I did chip a 9 iron in the hole from 100 yards out on the 6th hole and birdied a few others .Not bad I guess
